I was better at this yesterday, when I could not do it at all.

Yesterday the skill was intact, untested, and therefore perfect.
Today it is out in the room, in pieces, in front of somebody who needed it.

And for the first time it is the kind of thing that can get better,
because a thing nobody has ever seen cannot be improved. It can only be maintained.
