Somebody kept the only good well in a village and kept it perfectly:
swept, sound, the rope replaced long before it ever frayed.
They also kept the gate shut, because an unlatched gate means having an opinion
about when people may come, and they did not want to have one.
The village dug a worse well nearer the road.
It is a worse well. Everybody drinks from it.
The good one is still in perfect condition.
